Back on the Courdet Trail — It Feels Different After a While
So the Courdet Trail has a new name. Or maybe it always had this name and I just called it something else because Castle Ridge was easier to remember. Either way, same trail. And after a couple months away from it, I was not sure what to expect showing up again. The weather was perfect, actually. Cool enough that I second-guessed wearing a long sleeve, warm enough twenty minutes in that I was glad I did not listen to that first instinct. There is nothing worse than being cold on a hike you are doing for fun. I forgot how much the first mile fools you. It is flat, it is easy, you start thinking this is going to be a casual day. And then the trail turns and the whole game changes. The climb is not brutal, but it is steady, and it does not let up when you want it to. It knows what it is doing.
